Planting Seeds
I have been teaching in rural Saskatchewan for my entire career that started in 1998. Over the years I have witnessed the evolution of what teaching is and how students learn best. This evolution is credit to the integration of technology in our schools. When I began teaching, our schools were slowly integrating the incorporation of computer labs, internet and email. It didn't take long for these seeds to grow into enormous trees that have led to a forest of SMART boards, 1:1 iPad classrooms, Coding Projects, Blended Learning and Online Courses.
During my career I have had the opportunity to teach from Kindergarten to Grade 12 face to face in two schools and online Core French to four schools, as well as serving as the Learning Coach for our division, EAL support for our division and an Instructional Designer. These roles have allowed me to plant seeds with other teachers and has allowed these teachers to plant seeds in me! It has been so exciting to watch these little seeds or ideas flourish into engaging and memorable learning moments for our students.
